Dyfed-Powys Police has stated that staff information may have been “accessed or compromised” following a cyber-attack on 14 September. The incident disrupted “some non-emergency systems” within the Welsh force, which employs over 2,000 officers and civilian staff.
While the investigation continues into potential staff data compromise, the force has found no evidence that personal data belonging to members of the public was affected. Online and email contacts for the force were temporarily unavailable but have since been restored.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has been notified of the incident and is currently assessing the information provided. The investigation is being managed by Tarian, the regional organised crime unit for southern Wales, with support from cybersecurity specialists.
