A house fire in Bootle that resulted in the deaths of a mother and her three children was caused by a lithium-ion battery from an e-scooter that was on charge. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the cause of the blaze.
Elisha Brabin, 36, and her children, Leo, 16, Ellis, eight, and Prudence, seven, died after the fire "spread rapidly" inside their home on Stone Square in Bootle, Merseyside. The incident occurred in the early hours of last Tuesday.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service previously stated the fire was linked to an "electrical event" involving a lithium-ion battery. Kev Johnson, Head of fire prevention, noted that the fire "highlights the very real risks posed by lithium-ion batteries." A man was also hospitalised with burns.
