The availability of licensed vaccines and therapeutic treatments represents a significant advancement in managing outbreaks and reducing mortality rates.
The DRC's vast geographical spread and, at times, volatile security situation, present unique challenges to containing such outbreaks. Effective surveillance, contact tracing, and safe burial practices are paramount, but can be hindered by difficult terrain and the movement of populations.
