The Ebor Handicap, described as Europe’s richest handicap, is scheduled for Saturday at York. Joseph O’Brien’s four-year-old, Emit, is expected to be among the favourites, with a current best price of 7/1. Ryan Moore is confirmed to ride Emit, who holds leading claims after finishing fourth at Ascot on the same mark.
Another horse to watch is Love Me Tender, trained by Willie Mullins. Having arrived from Germany with two wins and a fourth-place finish in the Listed Grand Prix du Nord, Love Me Tender is considered a potential danger. Mullins has previously won the Ebor twice in the last three years.
In the day’s opening contest, the Group Three Strensall Stakes (1.50pm), Geryon is also noted. The horse is returning to a distance over which it previously won a Group Three at Leopardstown.
