Bruce, an 11-year-old red panda at Edinburgh Zoo, has had a tooth removed after keepers observed he was not eating his food. Vets from the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland discovered he was suffering from toothache.

The endangered animal was placed under a general anaesthetic for the procedure, during which the problem tooth was removed and he was checked for other illnesses. Bruce, who arrived at the zoo in 2016, was given a clean bill of health and has returned to his habitat.

Bruce is currently the only red panda at Edinburgh Zoo. Red pandas are classified as an endangered species, primarily due to habitat loss, human interference, and poaching.
