Eindhoven, a city in North Brabant, is preparing to host Dutch Design Week from 17 to 25 October. The event, which is the largest of its kind in northern Europe, is expected to attract around 350,000 visitors.
The programme includes exhibitions, workshops, and seminars at over 100 locations across the city. Thousands of local and international designers are involved, with displays covering diverse topics such as a bar made from mushrooms and the manipulation of Dutch wool for wearable garments.
Eindhoven reinvented itself as a multicultural hub for design and innovation after electronics giant Philips withdrew from the city in the late 1990s. Dutch Design Week has been held in Eindhoven annually since 2005.
