Elon Musk has emerged as the largest political donor in the 2026 US midterm elections cycle, having directed approximately $366 million towards political groups and campaigns. This spending largely supports conservative candidates and right-wing causes, with over $276 million contributed since July alone, marking some of the most rapid political spending in US history.
Musk's donations are targeting key races that will determine control of the US Senate. His contributions include $158 million to the Senate Leadership Fund, a Super PAC aiming to help Republicans maintain Senate control, and $10 million to a PAC supporting Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton.
Other significant contributions include $76 million for America Pac, $20 million for the Congressional Leadership Fund Republican Super Pac, and $10 million for the Republican Governors Association. The spending figures were initially reported by The New York Times and are expected to be released in a federal filing on Thursday.
