Aston Villa manager Unai Emery appeared relaxed and confident on the eve of Wednesday's Super Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain in Salzburg. Emery, who is starting his fourth full season with the club, believes his team will absorb a series of significant player departures.
The club has seen the exits of Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans, and Lucas Digne, with Digne returning to PSG. Despite these changes and the departure of three key coaching staff members, including the set-piece coach, Emery remains positive about Aston Villa's trajectory.
Captain John McGinn echoed Emery's sentiment, stating that expectations for the upcoming campaign should be similar to previous seasons. He highlighted the team's consistent competition with top clubs in England and Europe, emphasising the continued presence of the core squad, manager, and methods.
Emery also discussed the club's growth, noting that Aston Villa is increasing its budget through on-pitch results and player sales. The club is also reportedly planning to extend Villa Park to accommodate 50,000 supporters next season.
