England's men's hockey team has made a strong start in the FIH Pro League, securing back-to-back wins against Argentina and Australia. At the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London, a double from Henry Croft, combined with goals from Sam Ward, Nick Bandurak, and Tom Sorsby, earned England a dominant 5-0 win against Argentina on Saturday. The team followed this up with a 4-3 victory against Australia on Sunday, coming back from a goal down to win.
Against Australia, England trailed 1-0 after Nathan Ephraums scored, but responded with goals from Will Calnan, David Goodfield, Sorsby, and Samuel Hooper, putting them 4-1 in front. Despite Ephraums and Ky Willott reducing Australia's deficit, England held on for a win. The results have put England's men's team third in the table on 21 points with six games left to play.
However, the women's team has faced a disappointing start to the FIH Pro League, suffering two defeats against Germany. England's women were beaten 2-1 and 3-0 by their German counterparts, and are currently seventh in the table on seven points with six games left to play.
Both England teams will play their remaining FIH Pro League games at Lee Valley and are next in action on Saturday, 20 June, when the men face Argentina and the women play Australia.
