The Environment Agency has revoked the environmental permit held by DS Environmental Services, a waste operator located on Crown Street in Wolverhampton. The permit, which allowed for the import, transfer, and treatment of hazardous waste, as well as the storage of materials like asbestos and batteries, was formally revoked on 30 June 2026.
This decision follows a history of non-compliance at the site, which included failures to operate in line with a written management system and accepting waste not authorised by its permit. The Environment Agency stated that the revocation resulted from sustained regulatory intervention and a series of enforcement actions due to poor performance.
Tom Mountford, Waste Team Leader for the Environment Agency in the West Midlands, said that revoking permits is an enforcement tool used when there are serious and persistent concerns about compliance and environmental risk. He added that the agency is committed to protecting communities and the environment by taking action against operators who do not meet their obligations.
