An estate agency operating across Norfolk and Suffolk, S&W Sales Ltd, which trades as Starkings & Watson, will not be wound up after the High Court dismissed a petition from HMRC. The petition, concerning alleged tax debts, was heard by the Companies Court on Wednesday.
Following the dismissal, S&W Sales Ltd was ordered to pay HMRC's costs, which the company has now settled. Chris Starkings, managing director of Starkings & Watson, confirmed that there are no outstanding costs related to the petition.
This court decision follows the recent acquisition of Starkings & Watson's lettings operation by Norwich-based agency Pymm & Co. Pymm & Co purchased Starkings & Watson Lettings as part of a £1 million investment programme, which also included moving its Norwich headquarters to larger premises.
It is important to note that S&W Sales Ltd and S&W Lettings Ltd are separate entities, and HMRC's winding-up petition specifically targeted S&W Sales Ltd.
