Estate and letting agents are reporting increased confidence in their businesses, according to new industry research. The latest Voice of the Agent study indicates that net business confidence across the sector has risen from +7% to +16%. This comes as 47% of agencies expect their businesses to continue growing.
This improved commercial outlook contrasts with agents' views on Westminster, as 43% are unable to identify a single political party they trust most on housing. No individual party commands the confidence of even one in six agents.
Sentiment towards house prices remained positive across all UK regions, with Scotland recording the highest confidence at +23%, followed by the North West at +21%. However, prospective movers were less optimistic about future house prices than the wider public for the first time since 2024.
Simon Leadbetter, curator of The Voice of the Agent, noted that agents are seeking stability, credible housing policy, and economic competence rather than ideology. He stated that the profession remains optimistic about its own future but is sceptical that any political party currently has solutions to Britain's housing challenges.
