Chris Eubank Jr has apologised to the British Boxing Board of Control and its general secretary Robert Smith for past comments, retracting statements he made at a press conference on 17 September 2025.

In a statement on social media, Eubank Jr said he had claimed Smith was in the back pockets of Matchroom and Eddie Hearn, had tried to ruin his preparation for the fight with Conor Benn on 29 April 2025, and that he and the Board had used fines imposed on him to line their own pockets.

He said: "I accept that these statements are untrue and without any foundation. I accept that neither Mr Smith nor the Board are corrupt and I retract my statements in full."

Eubank Jr added that he had agreed a settlement on confidential terms and that the parties now consider the matter resolved. He apologised for the harm caused to both Smith and the Board.

Eubank Jr has been fined multiple times by the BBBofC, most notably for slapping rival Conor Benn with an egg in the build-up to the first of two fights. He has not fought since his points loss to Benn last November.
