Women's health company Evvy announced on Tuesday that it has raised $40 million in Series B funding. The investment round was led by Catalio Capital Management.
Launched in 2021, Evvy operates an at-home CLIA-certified and CLEP-certified mNGS test for analysing vaginal microbes. Users send swab samples to Evvy's lab for analysis, with results reviewed by clinicians on its platform and posted in a patient's health portal.
Evvy states it has served more than 100,000 patients across the United States and collaborates with 3,000 practitioners. The company has generated 15 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, identified new BV subtypes, and discovered hundreds of previously uncatalogued vaginal microbiome genomes.
Beyond patient treatment, Evvy's broader goal is to create a dataset linking microbiome biology, symptoms, interventions, and health outcomes. This aims to improve care and discover new biomarkers, addressing what CEO Priyanka Jain describes as a lack of high-quality data on female bodies in precision medicine.
The company is also expanding into the fertility space, compiling data to link vaginal microbiomes to issues such as infertility, gynaecological cancer, preterm birth, IVF success rates, and recurrent pregnancy loss. In May, Evvy introduced EvvyAI, an AI assistant designed to provide real-time guidance based on microbiome data.
