Daniel Kokotajlo, a former researcher at OpenAI, has warned Members of Parliament that the world's largest artificial intelligence companies are taking "catastrophically high" risks. He stated that these risks are being taken in the race to develop superintelligent systems.
Kokotajlo, who reportedly left the ChatGPT maker due to safety concerns, delivered his warning to the Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) Committee. Parliament is currently examining whether tech giants can be trusted to regulate themselves.
