The UK is bracing itself for another sweltering heatwave next week, with the Met Office issuing an extreme heat warning for eastern England. For four days from 24 June, residents in East Anglia, the East Midlands, and the East of England can expect temperatures to soar to 35°C (95°F) in some areas.

Met Office forecasts predict moderate winds of between 15-25 mph (24-40 km/h), but it's the blistering heat that poses the greatest risk. The warning is a Level 3 alert, indicating that people should be prepared and take precautions to stay safe – particularly vulnerable individuals like the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions.

The Met Office advises staying indoors during peak hours, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding strenuous activities. They also warn about the dangers of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, which can be fatal if left untreated.

Eastern England is expected to bear the brunt of the heat, with temperatures reaching 35°C (95°F) in some areas. The South East will be the second-hottest region, with highs of 32°C (90°F).

The Met Office has also issued heatwave alerts for parts of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland – but these are at a lower level, with temperatures expected to reach highs of 25°C (77°F).

Why this matters: The extreme heat warning is a timely reminder for UK residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe during the heatwave. Vulnerable individuals should take extra precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses.
