Families in Jersey face a looming deadline: applications for the 'Back to School Bonus' scheme, designed to ease cost-of-living pressures, close tomorrow, Friday 31 July 2026. For thousands of parents struggling to cover school expenses, every pound counts.
The initiative provides a one-off payment to help with essentials like uniforms and stationery for children from reception through to Year 11. Parents of primary school children can receive £100 per child, while those with secondary school children are eligible for £150 per child.
Eligible families must have a combined household income of £75,000 or less and not currently be receiving Income Support. The scheme's funding was announced by the previous government in April, aimed at households navigating ongoing financial challenges.
Payments will be deposited directly into bank accounts during August for those who submit their applications on time. Crucially, families already receiving Income Support do not need to apply – they'll receive bonus payments automatically in August.
The 'Back to School Bonus' is a direct effort by the government to support families who often struggle with household budgets stretched by new school supplies. With just 24 hours left to apply, eligible parents must act quickly to secure this financial aid.
