Crystal Hudson and her four children were forced to flee their home in Haverhill, Suffolk, after a fire broke out in the utility room. Ms Hudson, 27, stated she was changing her baby's nappy when she smelled smoke and attempted to extinguish the fire before it worsened.
The family, including children aged between one and six, lost all their possessions as the West Suffolk Council property was destroyed. Ms Hudson described being "screaming and crying" as they left the house without time to put on shoes.
Firefighters from Bury St Edmunds, Long Melford, and Newmarket attended the Connaught Road property at around 11:45 BST on 6 August. Ms Hudson, who had lived in the house for two-and-a-half years, is currently staying in a hotel with her family while the council seeks more permanent accommodation.
An online fundraiser has been established to assist the family in replacing their belongings, raising £2,000 so far.
