Nigel Farage is standing in the Clacton by-election on Thursday, 13 August 2026, after resigning his seat in July. His resignation followed the launch of a parliamentary inquiry into a £5m gift he accepted from a Thailand-based businessman before the general election.
Farage, who was elected Clacton MP in 2024, will face Count Binface, among 32 other candidates. The other major parties are not fielding candidates in the by-election.
Count Binface, whose earthling avatar is comedian Jon Harvey, has previously stood against four prime ministers. This will be the first time he faces Farage at the ballot box.
