John Anslow, 65, and his daughter Hayley-Marie Ferguson, 42, both from West Bromwich, are standing trial at Birmingham Crown Court. Mr Anslow is accused of murdering Chereiss Bailey, 36, and dumping her body in a canal with his daughter's help.
Ms Bailey's body was discovered near a waterway off Ryders Green Road in West Bromwich on 29 September last year. Prosecutor Michael Duck KC told the court that Ms Bailey, a vulnerable individual who occasionally worked as a sex worker, was last seen on 27 September.
The court heard allegations that Mr Anslow attacked Ms Bailey in his bedroom, causing facial fractures, bruising, strangulation, and bites. Mr Duck alleged that Mr Anslow then enlisted his daughter's help to dispose of the body, with CCTV reportedly showing them pushing Ms Bailey's body in a wheelchair before it was pushed into the water.
Mr Anslow has admitted preventing a lawful and decent burial but denies murder. Ms Ferguson, who is not accused of murder, has pleaded not guilty to preventing a lawful and decent burial and assisting an offender.
