Faye Driscoll's acclaimed performance, 'Weathering', is scheduled for its UK premiere at Birmingham's Fierce festival. The work, which first debuted in New York in 2023, has previously been presented at festivals across Europe.
The performance begins with 10 performers in still positions on a rotating central platform, with the audience positioned on four sides. It progresses from stillness to a chaotic and transformative group exertion, incorporating elements of kinetic sculpture, ritual, and dance.
Driscoll's work delves into themes of dance, human connection, perception, ecology, and community. The rotating platform in 'Weathering' takes on various meanings throughout the performance, including a stage, a bed, an improvised life raft, and a fragile spinning world.
The piece is scheduled to be at Midland Arts Centre, Birmingham, from 14-16 October as part of the Fierce festival.
