Emma Finucane is poised to make Commonwealth Games history on Sunday after clinching a third gold medal on a dramatic day of track cycling at Glasgow 2026. The 23-year-old cyclist, who had already secured team and individual sprint titles, dominated the women's kilo event, an event she reportedly does not usually contest.
Finucane's victory sets the stage for her to become the first Welsh athlete to win four golds at a single Commonwealth Games when she competes in the keirin. A world silver medallist in the keirin, Finucane expressed pride in her current haul, stating, "I didn't think I'd win three gold medals. I came here with a dream, and I feel like I'm living an absolute movie."
The Welsh national anthem also rang out for Anna Morris, who claimed her second gold of the Games in the points race, leading a Welsh one-two with compatriot Jess Roberts taking silver. Wales now sits second in the medal table, reportedly within touching distance of Australia. Neil Fachie of Scotland also secured his seventh and final Commonwealth gold in the men's tandem B sprint after a crash, while England's Henry Hobbs won the men's scratch race following a large crash.
