Florida officials on Tuesday identified the five individuals who died in Saturday's Amazon cargo plane crash at Miami International Airport. Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Narajo, 53; Julio C Pineda, 75; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, 47, were named as the victims.
Two other individuals, aged 79 and 32, remain hospitalised in critical condition. All five deceased and the two seriously injured were in a Ford Econoline van struck by the aircraft. The victims were employees of Professional Ocean Service Corporation, an aircraft contract cleaning company.
The Miami-Dade sheriff, Rosie Cordero-Stutz, confirmed that both pilots of the Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767 were released from hospital after receiving treatment. The pilots were the only two people on board the aircraft.
Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are continuing their examination of the crash site. The NTSB chair, Jennifer Homendy, stated that teams are working through a scene of "utter devastation." The plane's "black box" flight data recorder was recovered on Monday.
