Flights are experiencing disruption in parts of the UK following a technical issue at the National Air Traffic Services (Nats) Prestwick control centre in Scotland. This is the second such issue for Nats within a fortnight.
Departing and arriving flights at Scottish airports are severely delayed, with disruption also affecting Northern Ireland and northern England. Airports south of Manchester are broadly unaffected, but flights heading north and those departing Scottish airports are subject to delays.
Airlines such as British Airways and easyJet have reported immediate cancellations. Analysts Cirium indicate that 24 flights have been cancelled across UK airports, though many flights continue to operate.
A Nats spokesperson stated that engineers are investigating the issue at the Prestwick centre and apologised for the disruption, confirming it is unrelated to an incident two weeks ago.
