A high school student and one other person were killed in a school bus rollover crash in central Florida early on Monday. The incident, which took place in Winter Haven, involved three vehicles.
Authorities reported that approximately 26 students travelling on the public school bus were taken to hospital. The bus had a total of 39 occupants, including 37 high school students, the bus driver, and the driver's daughter.
The crash occurred around 6:13 AM local time. Officials stated that a white Chevy Malibu crossed the roadway's centerline for unknown reasons and struck the school bus. The bus then lost traction, crossed the centre line, and collided head-on with a silver Jeep.
The high schooler who died was identified as a teenage girl in 10th grade, a student at Winter Haven High School. The second fatality was an occupant from one of the other two vehicles involved in the crash.
