Former ABC broadcaster Margaret Throsby is recovering in hospital after being struck by an electric "fat bike" last week. The 84-year-old was walking on a shared path in the Illawarra, south of Sydney, when the collision occurred.
Her daughter, Holly Throsby, stated that her mother required surgery for a broken hip, and also sustained injuries to her thumb and head. The incident involved two teenagers on the e-bike.
Police attended the scene and inquiries into the incident are ongoing. Holly Throsby has called for legislation, education, training, and a licensing system for e-bikes.
