Former Australia cricket batter David Warner has been fined A$1,500 (£1,109) and ordered to have an interlock device fitted to his car after pleading guilty to drink driving.
Warner recorded a blood alcohol reading of more than twice the legal limit during a random breath test in April. He was driving his family home from a social function at the time.
Waverley Local Court heard that the 39-year-old attempted to swap seats with a female passenger when he saw a roadside breath-testing site on Easter weekend. Judge Clare Farnan noted that the offence was aggravated by the presence of children in the car.
The interlock device will prevent his car from starting if it detects alcohol in his system. Warner concluded his international playing career in 2024 but continues to captain the Sydney Thunder and works in media for Fox Sports.
