Campbell Petrie, 50, a former Police Scotland officer, has been convicted of a series of sex crimes, including two counts of rape, committed over a 17-year period.
He was found guilty of nine charges at the High Court in Glasgow. The offences, which also included indecent assault, assault with intent to rape, and assault to injury and danger of life, occurred between 2006 and 2023 while Petrie was a serving officer.
Police Scotland confirmed Petrie was arrested, charged, and suspended from duty in December 2023, before retiring from the force in December last year. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing next month.
Det Supt Adam Brown of Police Scotland's public protection unit commended the victims' strength in reporting the crimes. He stated that the force would identify and investigate officers, whether serving or retired, and regardless of whether crimes were committed on or off duty.
