Four men have been handed substantial prison sentences for their roles in the "violent and frightening" kidnap and "torture" of a man in Telford. The incident, which occurred on 29 December 2025, saw the 21-year-old victim abducted from his home and subjected to a prolonged ordeal, driven by what a judge described as issues of perceived family honour.
Shayyan Hussain, 24, Faheem Chohan, 23, and Ehteshan Hussain, 22, were each jailed for seven and a half years. Jawad Hussain, 21, received a seven-year sentence. All four individuals had pleaded guilty to kidnap in January. The Telford Crown Court heard details of the harrowing event, which Judge Trevor Meegan characterised as a "grave and deeply troubling offence" calculated to "terrify and degrade" the victim and extort money from his family.
The court was told that the dispute originated from the victim's contact with a 17-year-old woman, who was Shayyan Hussain's sister. Judge Meegan noted Shayyan Hussain's "misguided sense of familial responsibility" as a key motivator. Leading up to the kidnap, the victim had faced a sustained campaign of threats and intimidation, being warned to leave the Wellington area or face death.
On the afternoon of 29 December, the men, with their faces covered, arrived at the victim's home in Arleston. He was forcibly dragged from his house, and his mother, who attempted to intervene, was roughly pushed aside and had her arm run over by the car as it sped away. The victim was then driven to a pre-identified remote storage container, chosen for its isolation and security. There, he was stripped, bound, and tied to a chair by Shayyan Hussain, Faheem Chohan, and Ehteshan Hussain, rendering him "completely helpless."
During several hours, the victim endured "repeated acts of violence in a prolonged episode, torture," according to Judge Meegan. He was degraded, filmed, threatened with death, and made to believe he would not survive. Shayyan Hussain subsequently demanded a £20,000 ransom from the victim's family, threatening to kill him if the money was not paid. The victim was put on the phone to his family, pleading for the payment. The ordeal left him with severe injuries, including several facial fractures, a torn retina, and extensive bruising.
Later that evening, the victim was moved to another vehicle, where he managed to seize an opportunity to escape, driving away and seeking help. The judge highlighted the "profound and enduring consequences" for the victim, who now suffers from PTSD, anxiety, depression, social withdrawal, disturbed sleep, and flashbacks. Judge Meegan also noted the betrayal involved, as Jawad and Faheem were described as close friends of the victim, having previously shared meals and holidays with him.
