A French Bulldog from Telford has recovered after vets found and removed a rubber duck from his stomach. Nine-year-old TJ became seriously unwell, experiencing sickness and laboured breathing, leading to a diagnosis of aspiration pneumonia.
Scans revealed the outline of a rubber duck inside his stomach. His owner, Libby Burgwin, stated that TJ had a history of carrying rubber ducks in his mouth but had not previously eaten one.
Vets performed an operation to remove the toy, which they believed had been in TJ's stomach for several weeks due to its altered appearance. The cost of the procedure was £3,500, with Ms Burgwin paying 10% as TJ was fully insured.
TJ is now back home and has made a full recovery. The family has since removed all rubber ducks and small toys from their home, except for two kept as a memory.
