Student protests across France have resulted in more than 6,000 arrests in the past week, with a significant number of those arrested being under 18. Hundreds of schools nationwide are either blockaded or closed as a result of the ongoing demonstrations.

During a blockade in Lens, a 15-year-old reportedly lost a hand due to a police grenade. The protests have seen students displaying organisation and commitment, with participants reportedly turning up day after day despite the risks.

Parents have joined their children in protesting and have called for wider participation in a planned general strike on 17 October. This call is also a response to police actions witnessed during the past week.
