The highly anticipated heavyweight boxing match between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is confirmed to be held in the UK, specifically at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. This decision comes despite initial efforts by Dana White and Saudi Arabian organisers to host the bout in New York's Madison Square Garden.
UFC president and Zuffa Boxing chief Dana White credited Anthony Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, for insisting on the UK location, stating, "You've got to give credit to Eddie for really grinding that and making sure that it happened in the UK."
The fight, which will be shown on Netflix, is presented as a collaboration between Saudi boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh's The Ring and White. However, there had been doubts over the contest due to a dispute regarding White's role in the promotion, with Hearn publicly feuding with White since the launch of Zuffa Boxing earlier this year.
Despite White not being present at a news conference held by Fury and Joshua on 30 September to ease concerns, he insisted that he and his team would be producing the fight. White also stated he was "bored" with the ongoing feud between himself and Hearn, emphasising that the focus should be on the fighters.
