The G7 Cyber Expert Group (CEG) successfully concluded its 2026 Cross-border-coordination exercise (CBCE) on May 18, 2026. This initiative aimed to strengthen cyber resilience within the G7 financial sector.
The exercise simulated a large-scale cyber-attack across all G7 jurisdictions, bringing together ministries of finance, central banks, bank supervisors, and market authorities. It tested improvements identified from previous simulations and workshops, focusing on incident response, recovery, and crisis communication.
Following the exercise, the CEG has adopted a long-term strategy to increase the frequency and consistency of these simulations. This is intended to enhance preparedness across all G7 jurisdictions and reinforce the financial sector's capacity to withstand cyber threats.
