Melanie Walters, best known for her role as Gwen West in the popular BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey, is preparing to compete in the 24th series of Strictly Come Dancing. The Welsh actor, 64, joins a new lineup that includes Love Island star Dani Dyer, musician Delta Goodrem, and former England footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips.

This series marks a change in hosting duties, with Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe, and Johannes Radebe taking over from previous hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.

Walters, who also runs a pilates studio, has expressed her excitement for the competition. She stated, "This year I am completely thrilled and happy to swap my fairy wand for sequinned dance shoes. I just hope I don’t follow Cinderella and leave one on the Ballroom stairs."

Ruth Jones, co-creator of Gavin & Stacey, sent a message of support to Walters in the voice of her character Nessa, wishing her luck and offering humorous advice for the dancefloor.
