Great Britain's rowing team has celebrated further success at the European Rowing Championships in Italy, with Lauren Henry and Benjamin Pritchard both clinching gold medals today, 2 August 2026.
Lauren Henry, an Olympic gold medallist from the 2024 Paris Games in the women's quadruple sculls, delivered a strong performance to win the women's single sculls, taking the lead in the second half of the race to retain her European title. Benjamin Pritchard also successfully defended his European title in the PR1 men's single sculls final, overcoming Italy's Giacomo Perini.
The British women's eight crew, consisting of Annie Campbell-Orde, Lauren Irwin, Katherine George, Heidi Long, Megan Slabbert, Amelia Standing, Eve Stewart, Elizabeth Witt, and cox Jack Tottem, earned a silver medal. They finished 5.43 seconds behind a dominant Romanian team. These achievements add to the three gold medals secured by the GB team on Saturday.
