George Russell, driving for Mercedes, has claimed pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix sprint race with a time of 1 minute 11.567 seconds. Lando Norris of McLaren secured second place, just 0.041 seconds behind, while Charles Leclerc of Ferrari will start third.

The Formula One season has resumed after its annual month-long break. The sprint race is scheduled for 11am BST, with qualifying for Sunday's main event taking place at 3pm BST.

The season's conclusion remains uncertain, with 11 or 12 race weekends still to come. While it is expected to end in Abu Dhabi in early December, a European finale at Imola could be arranged if events in Abu Dhabi and Qatar are ruled out due to a potential conflict involving Donald Trump and Iran.
