Girl Seriously Injured in School Crossing Collision

A horrific incident unfolded outside Burnwood Primary Academy in Stoke-on-Trent on Wednesday morning when a car struck two children as they crossed the road. The collision occurred shortly after 08:30 BST on Chell Heath Road, near the school. A white Toyota was involved in the incident, and the driver, a woman, remained at the scene and was checked by paramedics but declined hospital treatment.

Both children, who are pupils at the school, were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment. According to West Midlands Ambulance Service, the girl suffered serious injuries and required trauma care at the scene. The boy also suffered injuries, which could be serious, and was taken to the hospital for further checks. Thankfully, their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, according to Staffordshire Police.

The school's head teacher, Emma Wickham, has expressed her support for the children and their families, stating that the thoughts of the whole school community are with them at this time. The police have appealed for anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage of the area at the time of the incident to come forward.
