Good Good’s CEO and co-founder, Matt Kendrick, has departed the US golf brand, along with President Joe Flannery. The move comes days after Kendrick posted a defiant social media response concerning an advertisement made for Callaway, which drew accusations of misogyny.
Callaway had terminated its contract with Good Good last week over the ad, which depicted a man pushing over a woman and was accused of trivialising violence against women. Kendrick's post on X questioned Callaway's actions, stating the golf giant approved the ad before dropping Good Good.
Nahid Giga, a board member, has stepped in as interim CEO. Fellow co-founder Garrett Clark, who appeared in the controversial ad, remains with the company. Head of finance and operations Alex Puchala acknowledged the difficulty of the day in a memo to staff, praising Kendrick's role in building the brand.
The backlash from the ad led to Good Good losing its deals with the PGA Tour and Golf Channel, in addition to the Callaway contract that began in 2023. Major US retailers also removed Good Good merchandise.
