Google has added Venmo as a payment option on Google Play, allowing users to pay for games, apps, add-ons, and other digital content. The company said the feature is available from today.
Users can link a Venmo account through the payment methods section in their Google Play settings. Payments can be made using the Venmo wallet or other linked methods such as bank accounts and cards. The option also covers subscriptions and tips to creators within content-based apps.
Google Play already supported PayPal and Cash App, as well as cards from American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and JCB in the United States. Outside the US, Google has experimented with cash payments at nearby stores.
The move comes as consumer spending on apps and games continues to rise. According to analytics firm Sensor Tower, user spend across iOS and Google Play exceeded $167 billion in 2025 for in-app purchases, up 10.6% year-on-year.
