Google has announced an improved version of its Quick Share feature, which allows Android users to exchange contact information, photos, videos and more with a tap. The update was unveiled alongside the Pixel 11 product launches on Wednesday.
To use the new mode, users bring their Android device close to another compatible Android device for what Google describes as an “instant, two-way exchange.” Photos or videos can be shared from the phone’s Share Sheet, then devices are tapped together to complete the transfer.
The feature brings the Pixel lineup more in line with the iPhone, following Apple’s NFC-powered NameDrop feature in iOS 17, which similarly allowed iPhone users to share content by touching phones.
The Quick Share update is rolling out starting Wednesday on Pixel 6 and newer devices, and will soon arrive on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8. Google says more devices will be supported by the end of the year.
