The government has launched an independent review into the valuation methodology used for pub and hotel business rates. The review, led by Jerry Schurder, will assess whether current valuation approaches remain appropriate and identify potential improvements.
Alongside the review, a Call for Evidence has been issued, inviting submissions from businesses, representative bodies, valuation professionals, and other interested stakeholders. Responses will help inform the review's findings and recommendations.
This initiative is part of the government's commitment to ensuring the business rates system is fair, transparent, and responsive to ratepayers' needs. A Summary of Responses will be published by the government in due course.
