Great Britain has qualified for November's Davis Cup Finals for the first time since 2023, after achieving an unassailable 3-0 lead against Ecuador in their qualifying tie. The decisive victory came on Sunday when Henry Patten and Neal Skupski won their doubles match.
The British team got off to a strong start on Saturday at a sold-out Copper Box Arena in London, with Toby Samuel and Arthur Fery both triumphing in their singles matches. Patten and Skupski then secured Britain's place in the 'Final Eight' event in Bologna with a 6-3 6-4 win over Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo.
Captain Leon Smith's team overcame several challenges, including the unavailability of Jack Draper, Jan Choinski, Jacob Fearnley, and a late withdrawal from Cameron Norrie. Toby Samuel, making his Davis Cup debut, fought back from a set down to win, while Arthur Fery secured an assured victory in his second appearance.
Other nations also progressing to the 'Final Eight' include three-time defending champions Italy, South Korea, Austria, 2022 champions Canada, and Germany. The United States, however, will miss the quarter-finals for a second consecutive year after losing to the Czech Republic.
