A group of Green Party activists, including Animah Kosai, a member of the Green Party Council, has submitted a five-page motion to the party's annual conference. The conference is scheduled to take place in Brighton in October.
The motion suggests that to increase popularity, the party should more enthusiastically adopt radical policies. These proposals include introducing a wealth tax on the richest one per cent, with the revenue intended to fund universal free childcare, nationalisation of water, energy, and rail, and rent controls.
The Green Party's position has reportedly begun to slide in recent months, following a period of increased support. The party polled 21 per cent in March, two points behind Reform UK, after rising from 10 per cent when Zack Polanski became leader last September to 16 per cent in two months.
