Gudea uses AI to track online narratives and prevent social media crises

Gudea, a company describing itself as the "storm tracker for the internet," is leveraging AI to help organisations identify and prevent potential social media crises.

  • Gudea's AI analyses online behaviour, relationships, and information pathways across over 500 websites and platforms.
  • The company aims to provide context behind online conversation growth, rather than just tracking metrics like mentions.
  • Gudea recently secured $7 million in seed funding, bringing its total funding to approximately $15 million.

Gudea, a company that tracks how stories and rumours spread online, is employing AI to assist organisations in detecting brewing online issues before they escalate into crises. The company presented its mission on Wednesday afternoon at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026.

Unlike traditional social listening platforms, Gudea's AI analyses how information moves and gains traction across more than 500 mainstream and fringe websites and platforms, including X, Reddit, and TikTok. This approach aims to provide context behind online conversation growth, enabling decision-makers to determine how to respond.

Gudea was founded in 2023 by Keith Presley, Jonathan Sperber, and James Thomin. The company currently has nearly 40 clients, including a Fortune 50 telecommunications company and a Fortune 50 retailer.

Last week, Gudea announced it had raised $7 million in seed funding, co-led by Mudita Venture Partners and Silicon Road Ventures. This investment brings the startup's total funding to around $15 million.

Why this matters: The rise of generative AI has increased the ease of generating content and coordinating online campaigns, leading to a greater prevalence of inauthentic online activity.
