Lewis Hamilton's wait is finally over! The seven-time world champion has stormed to victory in his maiden Ferrari win at the scorching Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. A staggering 41-race drought was shattered with a masterclass drive that left the competition eating dust. Hamilton's triumph will send shockwaves through the championship as he closes the gap on leader Kimi Antonelli, who suffered a devastating electrical shutdown and was forced to retire.
The action-packed finale saw George Russell of Mercedes and Lando Norris of McLaren engage in a thrilling battle for the remaining podium spots. But it was Norris who secured third place, marking an historic all-British podium – the first since 1968! The drama was palpable as Antonelli overtook Russell with just five laps to go, only to be cruelly denied a potential win.
"Grazie a tutti," Hamilton radioed his team in delight. "Thank you so much for helping me achieve this dream. To my family, I love you. And to the fans – thank you for keeping the fire burning. This win has put the cat among the pigeons; Antonelli now leads by 41 points, while Russell trails a further nine behind.
Ferrari's strategic three-stop plan proved inspired, and Hamilton pounced on fresh tyres after the virtual safety car was deployed for Fernando Alonso's retirement. It was a masterstroke that left Mercedes' Toto Wolff admitting, "I'd rather not fight with him for a title because I know what he's capable of. If Lewis smells blood, he goes – it's very difficult to stop him."
Other notable performances included Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar finishing fourth and sixth respectively for Red Bull, while Oscar Piastri claimed fifth for McLaren. Pierre Gasly secured seventh for Alpine, building on his impressive Monaco showing.
