Mathematician Hannah Fry, 42, who was banished from Celebrity Traitors in last night's episode, has disclosed the gameplay calculations she developed to identify Traitors. Fry, a Cambridge professor, had intended to use a scientific method, inspired by Alan Turing's technique for cracking the Enigma machine, but was unable to after being recruited as a Traitor herself.
After leaving the castle, Fry shared details of her findings, suggesting that current Traitors James Acaster and Maya Jama have inadvertently revealed themselves. According to Fry's analysis, Traitors often make a 'burn vote' in the first three episodes, a behaviour she noted in both Acaster and Jama. She also observed that Traitors tend to 'pile on' and banish another Traitor, even if they had not previously voted for them, citing Acaster and Jama's vote switch from Julie to her as an example.
Fry also highlighted that Traitors typically avoid spending time together on the show, stating, "You'll never see three Traitors in a car together, you'll never see three Traitors sitting next to each other at breakfast." Fry expressed her disappointment at not being able to use her findings but said she enjoyed her time on the show.
The series is currently halfway through, with two Faithfuls and two Traitors banished. Three contestants have also been "murdered" by the Traitors. Yesterday's episode saw Jama and Acaster recruit King Kenny, bringing the number of Traitors back to three. Celebrity Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
