Residents of Latimer, Buckinghamshire, have reported feeling "cut off" due to road closures for the filming of a new Harry Potter series. Plum Jam Productions, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery, is filming a major HBO series in the village from 28-30 September, with all routes into the village centre closed on Tuesday.
People living in the village were notified in September about the filming. While residents have been given permits for timed access at 08:00 and 17:00 on Monday and Wednesday, only emergency vehicles are permitted between 07:00 and 19:00 on Tuesday.
Teacher Candice Adams, who lives on the Parkfield Latimer estate, stated that the filming made it difficult to get to work, as her usual route passes through Latimer. She said suggested alternative routes were narrow country roads. Another resident, Julia Jenkin, said she did not plan to leave her home during the three days of filming due to the difficulty of navigating Blackwell Hall Lane, a narrow, unlit single-track road used for diversions.
Buckinghamshire Council's deputy member and cabinet member for transport, Thomas Broom, said the council approved the temporary road closure after its usual notification, consultation, and assessment processes. He added that the production company engaged with residents and local stakeholders, and feedback helped shape measures to minimise disruption.
