Harvey Elliott has departed Liverpool to join Spanish club Valencia on a loan deal, making it his second successive season away from the Reds. The England Under-21 international previously spent last year at Aston Villa.
Valencia will not be paying a loan fee for Elliott, who was not included in Liverpool's matchday squads for the first two games of the current season. Manager Andoni Iraola reportedly preferred other players, and the recent £106m signing of winger Bradley Barcola further reduced Elliott's prospects for first-team action.
The 23-year-old made only nine appearances for Aston Villa last season. This was partly due to a clause that would have obligated Villa to purchase him for £35m from Liverpool if he played 10 games. Elliott has scored 15 goals in 149 games for Liverpool but has found it challenging to secure regular first-team football since Jurgen Klopp's departure from Anfield.
