Hearts have qualified for this season's Conference League after a dramatic penalty shootout victory against Rapid Vienna. The Edinburgh side's success came a night after Celtic's Champions League play-off exit.
Hearts, playing with 10 men after Tomas Magnusson's red card, overcame Rapid away from home. The match saw Landry Kabore equalise and Calvin Miller put Hearts ahead in extra time, before Rapid forced penalties. Goalkeeper Beau Reus made two saves in the shootout, securing Hearts' third Conference League qualification in five seasons.
Celtic, who had a four-goal aggregate lead against LASK, lost 5-1 on the night after extra time, sending them into the Europa League. Celtic captain Callum McGregor acknowledged the team's performance, stating, “We got what we deserved.”
Following their win, Hearts took to social media to comment on Celtic's European struggles, posting: “Winning play-offs in Austria isn’t for everyone...”
