The UK is bracing itself for a severe heatwave this week, with temperatures forecast to reach 31C on Friday, according to the Met Office. The organisation has issued a heatwave warning, advising people to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated.
The highest temperatures are expected in the south of England, with 14 counties forecast to reach temperatures above 25C. The warmest areas are expected to be the counties of Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, and Surrey, where temperatures could reach 30C or higher.
The heatwave is not just limited to England, with Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland also experiencing high temperatures. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the entire UK, advising people to be aware of the heat and take precautions.
Residents are being advised to stay cool by staying indoors during the hottest part of the day, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding strenuous activities. The elderly and vulnerable are particularly at risk during heatwaves and should take extra precautions to stay safe.
